Abstract landscapes on paper—think of mountain ranges, marshes, deserts, and plains—centered on the horizon, the dividing line between earth and sky. The paint consists of water-based pigments bound with an acrylic binder and/or casein. A final coat of varnish is often applied, which also provides protection against UV radiation.
